Exit at Emeryville
Day 6, Sacramento to Emeryville, CA at the end of the Coast Starlight leg of the trip.
Those aren't smudges on the window, those are hot air baloons. (Although there are plenty of smudges on the window, too. Amtrak would do well to clean its glass a little more often while advertising the scenic splendor of its routes, IMHO.)
As we approach the Bay Area, the fog rolls in. After bright sunlight in Seattle and Portland, the Bay area is foggy and overcast.
No, it doesn't really look like this. This is my dramatic filter again.
In my continuing quest to stay away from other people, I found that the parlor car was a nice spot to have breakfast today. The parlor car is unique to The Coast Starlight, unfortunately.
Not too much to see. The area around the northeast corner of the Bay is very industrial. Lots of railroading, though.
I'm told this is the Carquinez Strait.
Some drama along the Sacramento River.
And finally here we are in Emeryville. A very dirty nose! Now it's on to Woodside via rental car to see Ted's new manse.
