Departure Seattle

This was the view from my dinner al fresco last evening. I can tell you that the salmon and strawberries we get on the east coast are not worthy of the name. It is both Copper River salmon and strawberry season right now, and if my dinner was any indication we are missing out.

I must say that it was nice to take a long, stationary shower in a Marriott shower stall this morning.

Day 5 -- left Seattle right on time at 9:35AM PT. The weather is typical Seattle rainy and dreary, not. Beautiful view of Ranier from the train. It never looks quite real to me -- more like it's painted on the backdrop.

This evening I am looking forward to the climb over the former SP main through the Cascades. I've done two track plans for this line so I am quite familiar with it.

Tacoma at 10:21, right on time so far.
