Woke Up and Saw The Sun Rising In the West
Day 4. I certainly can get confused early in the morning. In this case, the train was traversing a horseshoe curve on its way down to the Columbia River and Wenatchee and temporarily headed east. This gives new meaning to the phrase "getting up on the wrong side of the bed."
The climate in eastern Washington State is near desert, and the hills around Wenatchee are starkly beautiful. We are going upstream on the Columbia River. Further downstream to the south is the Columbia River Gorge. The section of this train that goes to Portland breaks off in Spokane and travels through the Gorge.
Even the homeless in Wenatchee like Amtrak.
Last night I slept through Idaho -- the 49th state in which I have at least driven or trained through. They tell me it's nice.
