Montana Lives Up to Its Name
The pioneers must have said "oh shit…" After several hundred miles of rolling plains, the Rockies make an impressive barrier to further westward travel.
We enter the mountains at East Glacier Park, MT. Nice station.
There is an impressive pull up the Marias pass. On the way up the good views are on my side of the train.
The sun is setting, so photography is becoming more challenging. But not bad for after 9 PM.
Eating in one's room is the best kept secret here. The porter is happy to bring a meal to you. Meanwhile, the plaintive announcements telling people to wait until their time is called and to not sit down until so directed continue. Finally, a food photo: a relatively delicious steak salad, complemented by my smuggled-in bottle of wine.
Late-night stop at the station in Whitefish, MT. When I think of whitefish I think of bagels and lox in a Brooklyn deli. But that's just me.
